Brief:
This microgame is part of a series of exercises for a Creative Coding class where the goal was to practice 2D game development by coding a simple Shoot 'em Up.
I used the particle system to create the stars in the background and the explosion effect. I also decided to go for a shield mechanic instead of using life points.
For future implementations, I will work on enemy AI to increase the variety and difficulty of the waves. I'll also make the waves be spawned procedurally.
Assets:
The soundtrack you hear is an 8-bit version of Alexander Courage's composition for Star Trek Classic series.
The spaceships are from 1992 DOS, VGA Planets.
